I am obsessed with Hong Kong because it is total visual stimulation and one is exposed to so many different sights. When a city moves so fast it is a joy to stay at a property that affords one the best possible service and a feeling of calm. This would be the iconic Mandarin Oriental located in Central.
The Mandarin Oriental HK is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the bustling business and financial district. From the moment you check-in you enter a hotel stepped in history and service. It is located right by the local metro (MTR), walking distance to the Star Ferry and to all the sights in Central.
They have one of the one of the best concierge teams in the world headed by concierge manager Indira Pun that can locate, plan and assist you in purchasing anything your heart desires.
The dining options are mouthwatering and varied. I adore the mandarin cake shop that offers all sorts of delectable pastries, breads, scones and tea sandwiches. On display are the most beautiful cakes displayed like art in glass cases. Of course they serve libations of all kinds.
If fine dining is your passion then the Mandarin Grill sets the standard for innovative and artfully prepared creations. Then there is French cuisine, gourmet Chinese, a casual bistro for lighter meals and a lobby lounge for drinks or the traditional afternoon tea. For drinks and late night snacks you have the M bar with a stunning view of the Harbor or the more traditional Captains bar that has an old world clubby feel to it with nightly music.
If all this eating and touring has you exhausted you can enter The Spa with a mesmerizing view of the harbor and central. Spread over two floors with a complete gym, indoor pool, various water treatments in the locker rooms and a lovely relaxation room. The treatments can be customized for your needs and the services are fantastic. I came out of my treatment just totally refreshed and ready to tackle another day in this exciting city.
Although a visa is not required for US citizens to enter Hong Kong a visa is needed to visit main land China. Traveldocs can assist with your Chinese visa and US Passport requirements.
