A transit visa is now required for travel to Ghana in all situations. In the past direct air side transit did not require a visa and in some cases a transit through Ghana to another country could be accomplished by obtaining a visa upon arrival in Ghana. This is no longer possible.

In some cases applying for a tourist visa maybe a better option as a tourist visa allows for a longer lenght of stay and validity of visa than the transit visa does.

Travelers of all Nationalities, including U.S. citizens, who will transit through Ghana must now obtain a transit visa in advance of travel.
