Effective January 16th, 2015, the US Government to revise sanctions, which will facilitate travel to Cuba for authorized purposes and allow provisions of travel services by authorized travel agents and airlines. Certain financial transactions will now be possible and previously restricted activities in areas such as telecommunications, financial services, trade, and shipping will be permitted.

* Vaccination: International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever required if arriving from infected area within 5 days
Currently, travel to Cuba is permitted for 12 categories of visitors under US law and others under US jurisdiction, those categories are as follows:
Persons visiting close relatives who are nationals of Cuba.
Those on official government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations
Journalist and support personnel.
Full-time professionals conducting professional research or attending certain professional meetings.
Faculty, staff, and students of accredited US graduate and undergraduate degree-granting academic institutions.
Members and staff of US religious organizations.
Participates in public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions.
Those lending support for the Cuban people.
People engaged in humanitarian projects.
People participating in activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes.
Those dealing with the exportation, importation or transmission of information or information materials.
Those facilitating certain export transactions that may be considered for authorization under existing regulations and guidelines.
Under the new rules, people will not need to apply for a license if they meet these criteria. The new rules also remove any limit on how much money a traveler can spend per day. Travelers can bring back $400.00 worth of goods including no more than $100.00 worth of alcohol or tobacco.
