REQUIREMENTS FOR NON-U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER CHINA

Tourist Visa Requirements:

  • Submit national passport /valid at least 6 months beyond stay
  • 1 Visa Application Form (Q1) - the 2 pages version only
  • 1 Passport-type photograph required
  • Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (Green Card) -or- evidence of legal status in USA (valid visa plus I-94 in passport)
  • Applicants requesting Rush (same day) or Express (24 hours) issuance of the visa must provide a travel agency or airline itinerary showing evidence of an urgent departure within 4 days Rush visa) or 7 days (Express Visa).
  • An applicant who was born in China is required to submit his /her Chinese passport, or copy of its personal information page, or last foreign passport with a Chinese visa when he/she applies for a Chinese visa with a new foreign passport. A Chinese child born in US shall provide the original and copy of his/her bith certificate for the first time of applying for a visa.

  • Visitors to China whose purpose of visit is short term study (less than 180 days), intern etc., may not apply for tourist visas. Please click below for the appropriate visa instructions:


  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)

Business Visa Requirements:

  • Submit national passport /valid at least 6 months beyond stay

  • Applicants for a Single Entry visa or a Double Entries visa or Multiple Entries visa require an invitation from your host company or organization in PRC -OR- and invitation known as a "Visa Notification Form" from the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs or from China Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Commission or from any authorized government entity. This invitation should be arranged by your host in China and may be emailed or faxed to you.
  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
  • A business letter from your firm, addressed to: "Embassy of The Peoples Republic of China, Visa Section, Washington DC", explaining the purpose of the trip, and guaranteeing financial support for the applicant while in the Peoples Republic of China, and return transportation.
  • An invitation from a company or organization in PR China (not Hong Kong).

Employment "Z" Visa Requirements:
  • Submit National passport /valid at least 6 months beyond stay
  • 1 Visa Application Form (Q1)
  • 1 Passport-type photograph required
  • Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (Green Card) -or- evidence of legal status in USA (valid visa plus I-94 in passport)
  • Applicants requesting Rush issuance (same day) or Express (24 hours) issuance of the visa must provide a travel agency or airline itinerary showing evidence of an urgent departure within 4 days (Rush Visa) or 7 days (Express Visa).
  • Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
  • A business letter from your firm, addressed to: "Embassy of The Peoples Republic of China, Visa Section, Washington DC", explaining the purpose of the trip, and guaranteeing financial support and return transportation for the applicant while in the Peoples Republic of China
  • An official invitation issued by a Chinese Government Agency -or-
  • a government-authorized company/organization Z visa invitation -or-
  • an Employment License issued by the Chinese Labor Ministry, are required.

The "Z" visa is usually issued valid for entry for three months from the issue date, for a stay of 30 days from the date of entry. It may be extended locally by your employer in China.

  • Your application, which must be fully and accurately completed, is hand carried to the Consulate of PR China and is usually processed in 4 business days.

  • Multiple Entries: (12 months validity)

  • Include credit card authorization, a check or money order payable to "Travel Document Systems, Inc." for TDS handling fee per visa, plus Consular Fee per visa, plus return Shipping Fee.

Visa Notes
  • The China tourist or business visa is usually valid for three months from date of issue, for length of stay not to exceed 30 days. Applications for a touristic stay exceeding 30 days are not usually granted. Applications for business stay exceeding 30 days may be considered, but requires a Visa Notification Form (invitation) from a Chinese Government organization or the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approving the longer duration of stay.
  • If Applications require urgent Processing please send to TDS using only Fedex Overnight Service
  • Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued.

Multiple Entry Visas:

  • Applications for Multiple Entry visa may be available but requires a Visa Notification Form (invitation) from a Chinese Government organization or the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approving the Multiple Entry visa. of stay.
