REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER BRAZIL
Brazil
Business Visa
(Temporary II Visa)
- For business
negotiations, sales and marketing only. If the purpose of visit
or the nature of duties to be performed in Brazil includes any
form of "technical support" e.g. installation, repair,
start-up, software development, etc., the
Temporary V Visa is mandatory.
- Submit your
U.S. Passport (not a copy), must be signed and be valid for 6 months further from the date of entry
- 2 Brazil
Visa Application forms, fully completed
and signed.
- Completed
Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
- 2 Professional Passport-type
photographs (digital potographs not accepted)
- Copy of
round trip ticket, or itinerary from an air carrier or travel
agent attesting to the acquisition of the ticket, showing flight
information and dates of departure to and from Brazil.
- Proof of
residence in the Consular Jurisdiction (eg. Copy of drivers
license, Utility bill etc)
- If you are attending a conference in Brazil, a letter of invitation from the conference organizers in Brazil is required
- A business
letter from your firm, addressed to:
Consulate General of Brazil, Visa Section, San Francisco,
CA
The
letter must explain all of the following
- Explain the
purpose of the trip in detail
- The duties
to be performed in detail
- And guaranteeing
financial support for the applicant while in Brazil, and return
transportation.
- This letter
must be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.
Note
- Consular
jurisdiction applies to all business visas for Brazil.

Application
will be hand carried to the Consulate, and usually is processed
in seven business days.
- The
Consular Fee is non-refundable. Applications which are rejected
by the Consulate for any reason, such as lack of specific
details in the business letter or incorrect documentation,
will be returned with the Consular fee.
- The
visa application may be photocopied, but it must be back-to-back,
correct side up, on a single sheet of letter size paper
(8 1/2 x 11").
- Children
under age 18 not travelling with both parents must provide
a notarized letter of consent.
- Int'l
Certificate of Vaccination showing valid polio vaccinations
required for all children age 7 and under.
- International
Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required if arriving in
Brazil from any area of an infected country.
- The
Brazil business visa is usually valid for entry into Brazil
(and must be first used) within 90 days of issue date. The
business visa is then valid for multiple entry for five
years, for a stay of up to 90 days each time.
- There
are nine different Brazilian consular offices in the U.S.--
each issues its own application form and requirements may
vary.
- Some
Consulates do not accept visa applications by mail.
