RELATIONS
As
a territory of the US, the US Government has responsibility for
American Samoa's foreign relations. American Samoa is a member
of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the South Pacific Regional
Environmental Program (SPREP).
American Samoa and the neighbouring Independent State of Samoa
have close cultural, historical and community links. The Governor
of American Samoa and the Prime Minister of Samoa hold regular
meetings to discuss matters of mutual concern, such as the movement
of people (with many Samoan nationals working in American Samoa's
tuna processing plants).
